Cost-Effective at Low Volume
SLS often beats injection molding on ROI for short runs, since there is no tooling to pay for before the first part.
Selective Laser Sintering (SLS) fuses thermoplastic powder layer by layer into strong, functional parts. It needs no tooling and no support structures, which makes it a practical choice for low-volume production and fast, testable prototypes.
SLS turns thermoplastic powder into durable, functional parts. A laser fuses each layer of powder, and the surrounding loose powder supports the part as it builds, so there are no support structures to remove and complex geometry comes at no extra cost.
That makes it a favorite among engineers for low-volume production. You can consolidate several components into one part, build intricate internal features, and move from file to finished part without committing to tooling.

SLS combines strength, speed, and design freedom, which is why it shows up everywhere from prototyping benches to motorsport programs.

Parts come off the machine strong enough to test, so you can iterate quickly. The same speed supports work like Formula 1 wind tunnel testing.
We print mostly nylon-based powders, available in unfilled, glass-filled, and carbon-filled grades plus flexible TPU 88A.
SLS suits work that needs quick turnaround and durable parts. It handles intricate geometry and can consolidate multiple parts into one component to simplify assembly.
Glass-filled Nylon 12 is our standard SLS material. Unfilled PA12, carbon-filled nylon, and TPU 88A are available by special request. Not sure which grade fits? Our team will recommend one for your part.

We run our SLS work on the EOS P 770, one of the largest laser sintering platforms available. Its dual lasers scan the powder bed in parallel, so large parts and densely nested builds come off the machine quickly.
The long build envelope lets us print big components in one piece instead of bonding sections together, and because parts nest freely in the powder bed, a single build can carry one large housing or hundreds of small parts.

Our work with SLS spans a range of industries and applications, from prototype development to full production. We build parts for automotive, aviation, and consumer goods programs, and we scale the same process from a single part to a production run.
Whether you need a quick functional prototype or end-use parts, we can recommend the right nylon grade and turn the job around on a reliable timeline. Explore the rest of our manufacturing capabilities to see how SLS pairs with our other additive and traditional processes.
From production equipment housings and industrial machine guards to patient-specific dental appliances, SLS handles structural and skin-contact applications alike.
